You belong in our community
WTSA is a women-led 501(c)(3) and a working group of sensory experts, clinicians, researchers, chefs, formulators, and advocates. Members fund the research, education, and advocacy that move taste and smell health forward, and get access to the people doing that work.

Millions of people live with smell or taste loss, and many never receive a diagnosis. At least 139 medical conditions are associated with reduced smell. The senses that shape how we eat, heal, remember, and connect sit almost entirely outside the public health conversation.
WTSA exists to change that. We translate sensory science into real-world impact through research, education, storytelling, and cross-sector collaboration. Our work runs from taste and smell disorders to multisensory product development to designing food for life beyond Earth.
We are a small team of volunteers. Membership is what keeps the work going.

Research
Applied studies including CFAP, our Cognitive Flavor Assessment Protocol, and the 2026 Human Taste & Smell Spectrum public health survey.
Education
Free public programming, the Global Taste & Smell Summit, our glossary and global language lexicon, and training for clinicians and caregivers.
Advocacy
World Taste & Smell Day on September 14, the Silent Epidemic campaign, and our directory of taste and smell centers.
Support
Resources for patients and caregivers living with smell and taste loss, including Eating During Chemo and Voices of Experience.
Smell reaches the brain's emotion and memory centers in a synapse or two. We think that deserves a seat at the table.
