ARx Philadelphia at uCity Square: A Collaboration between Professional Artists and Scientific Researchers

  • One uCity Square (25 N 38th St, Philadelphia, PA 19104 United States (map)

Nine researchers and nine artists were paired for a 10-month collaboration creating artistic expressions rooted in science.

The program asked selected participants to work together to create their piece in any medium desired. Teams will present at the Opening Reception about their experience, the process, and the meaning behind their piece.

Science takes the stage as dancer and choreographer Lyra Butler-Denman premieres an original performance inspired by Dani Reed and other Monell scientists who study the sense of smell. Blending movement, ritual, and sensory storytelling, the piece explores how our noses carry memory, emotion, and identity — revealing that biology is never separate from feeling.

Opening Reception on Thursday, September 24. Meet the artists, researchers, and be part of the unveiling! Refreshments will be provided.

Exhibition runs September 24 through November 19

Time: Afternoon reception at 12:00pm, Evening reception at 5:00pm
